Hello all, I use to play Guild Wars back in 04/05 and I did a lot of chest farming and a little bit of UW/FoW farming and I never have witnessed a rank 7 max gold.. I know 8 is rather common but whats the different in rarity or chance to get a rank 7?

You can't get max r7s anymore, no matter what people tell you. R8s drop though - got a r8 tactics shield the other day.

r7s do still drop its just the rate is extremely rare and their found mostly in NM which no one farms anymore there was a thread on this a few months ago and people found that the best places to farm for Q8, Q7 was Magumma Jungle/Crystal Deasert in NM. Good Luck if your trying for one though their still ridiculously rare.

Please post your q7 finds in the Low Req Weapons thread. Although I'm pretty sure you will never find one.

I'm not claiming to farm them, and as I said this is from a month old thread I've read. Not going to bother with proof seeing as to how I don't have any, believe it if you want or don't.

Well if you're not going to bother with proof then don't claim that q7's still drop as a fact.

As to what can still drop today, I think it's fairly widely agreed that the following can still drop in max with r8: sword, shield, and focus.

The lowest req. possible for max drops changed at Nightfall's release. Before NF's release, there were a lot more items possible in max r8 and some in max r7. The existing items like that are still in the game, but no more will drop now.

Any and everyone who claims that other items can still drop max in r8 or any item can still drop max in r7, PLEASE YES show us a screenshot of one dropping after NF's release! That would be a fantastic find for sure, but you'll forgive me if I don't hold my breath.

I've been playing about 5 years now. I never did serious farming or chest running, but I only ever had one max r7 item drop for me. It was some gold Ele focus from the Ring of Fire mission, probably either just before or not too long after Factions' release. Max r7 items were not at all frequent drops back then.

I have heard that max r8s these days won't come from high-end chests (the kind which give treasure hunter points.) Max r8 shields and foci can drop from foes in both HM and NM still - I assume max r8 swords can, too, but I haven't seen that myself.

a R7 dropping is like anet pushing out updates on time, with no bugs making the whole comunity happy and all the problems of the world then dissapear into a cloud of - get real its never happening.

There is no proof in there about q7, just a couple of posts of speculation. The rest of the thread is basically about q8s, and the only screens are of weapons widely known to still drop q8 (shields/foci/swords).

In short:
- there is no proof that q8's still drop aside from shields/foci/swords.
- there is no proof that q7's of any kind still drop.

Short of taking a screen shot with your character holding up a calendar next to the max r7 weapon, there is no way to prove they still drop for anyone not in the party it drops for. Because even if someone posts a screen of it, all the skeptics will just say it was a weapon from 4 years ago that someone bought or had in storage. Using the computer calendar in the screen shot won't be proof either, as I can make mine show that it's 1928 still. Last time I saw a near max r7 (14-27 bow) was playing through Cantha the first time at release.

I don't doubt their existence, or the existence of aliens either, I've just never seen one (that wasn't being sold on guru - although that was years ago as well).

That was... entirely irrelevant. You're like that guy who brings politics into a discussion on sports. That kind of response is what derails a thread.

Besides, at this point, I think the question is now not whether the items drop so rarely that one should not get their hopes up, but whether they still drop at all.

Also, Illavos, I read the thread you posted, and didn't see a single screenshot of a max r7 dropping.

Weapons with a requirement of 7 still drop, of course, they just don't have max stats. Just like weapons with a requirement of 3 don't drop with max stats, the same goes for weapons with a requirement of 7 now.

Basically, the consensus is that max r7 weapons no longer drop in the game. It's not that they're just very very rare to drop, it's that when NF came out, they were just removed as drop possibilities.

If they were in the game still, somebody would bot them. rarity would not matter to a bot in NM. They would be abundant. The fact they are not basically makes it obvious.
I agree that they are an extinct drop.

The proof was given long ago that they still dropped and confirmed by the DEVS. However you still have those here that refuse to believe it.

Sure, but I'd want to see proof first. Hell, even give me a screenie of a max q8 that is not a focus/sword/shield (and dropped after NF release) and I'll give in immediately. I don't know this 'item designer John', but maybe he's not aware of the changes in drops after the NF release.
